Itinerary

Your Amazon adventure begins with pickup from Iquitos Airport or your hotel.

We travel by road to Bellavista Nanay, where we board a fast boat and begin our journey into the Amazon.

Amazon River Navigation

As we leave Iquitos behind, the landscape gradually transforms into an extraordinary panorama of water, forest, and wildlife.

We navigate toward the Amazon River and pass through the area where the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon rivers meet, offering one of the most impressive river landscapes around Iquitos.

Yagua Indigenous Culture

Our next stop is a Yagua community, where we will have the opportunity to learn about the traditions, cultural heritage, and way of life of one of the Amazon's Indigenous peoples.

You will experience a traditional cultural presentation and learn about the pucuna, or blowgun, traditionally used by the Yagua for hunting.

This is an opportunity to experience Amazonian culture directly and respectfully, while learning how Indigenous communities have developed a deep relationship with the rainforest.

Lunch & Lodge Arrival

We continue by boat to Dorado Amazon Lodge, where you will enjoy a traditional Amazonian regional lunch.

After lunch, we check into your private ecological cabin and allow some time to settle in and enjoy the surroundings.

Rainforest Exploration

In the afternoon, accompanied by your guide, we venture into the primary rainforest surrounding the lodge.

During the walk, we learn about the incredible diversity of Amazonian plant life, including giant rainforest trees such as the wimba, as well as medicinal plants traditionally used by local communities.

Your guide will explain how the forest provides food, medicine, materials, and shelter for countless species—and for generations of people who have lived alongside it.

Night Jungle Walk

After sunset, the rainforest changes completely.

We head back into the forest for a guided night walk, using flashlights to search for some of the Amazon's nocturnal inhabitants.

Depending on conditions, we may encounter spiders, tarantulas, insects, frogs, reptiles, and other fascinating creatures that become active after dark.

Listen carefully—the sounds of the rainforest at night create an experience unlike anything during the day.

Overnight at your private ecological cabin.

We wake early for one of the most beautiful moments of the journey.

Amazon Sunrise & Birdwatching

We board a small boat and head onto the river to watch the sunrise over the Amazon.

As the first light reaches the forest and river, we have the opportunity to observe birds and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the early morning Amazon.

We then return to the lodge for breakfast.

Amazonian Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, including a selection of regional tropical fruits and other local foods.

After breakfast, we check out of the lodge and begin our return journey toward Iquitos.

Butterfly Sanctuary

Along the way, we visit the San Rafael Butterfly House (Morpho Sapi).

Here we learn about the fascinating transformation of butterflies—from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and finally adult butterfly.

One of the highlights is the opportunity to observe the spectacular blue Morpho butterflies, famous for their brilliant blue wings.

Searching for River Dolphins

As we continue our journey toward Iquitos, we make a strategic stop along the river to search for pink and gray river dolphins.

These remarkable animals live freely in the Amazon ecosystem, and observing them requires patience and favorable natural conditions.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but our guides know the river and will make every effort to locate them.

Optional Amazonian Tasting

Depending on the day's schedule and local conditions, we may make an optional stop at a traditional sugarcane mill (trapiche).

Here you can learn about traditional Amazonian production methods and, if available, sample locally produced Amazonian beverages.

Return to Iquitos

We continue our boat journey back toward Iquitos.

Upon arrival, our transportation will take you to your hotel or Iquitos Airport, marking the end of your Amazonía Ancestral experience.

For a comfortable Amazon experience, we recommend bringing:

• Lightweight, breathable clothing.
• Long-sleeved shirts and long pants for jungle walks.
• Insect repellent.
• Sunscreen.
• Hat or cap.
• Comfortable walking shoes or sandals.
• Swimsuit.
• Small flashlight or headlamp.
• Camera or smartphone with protection from humidity.
• Waterproof bag for electronics and personal belongings.
• Reusable water bottle.
• Cash in Peruvian soles for personal expenses and souvenirs.

Travel light: for a two-day, one-night adventure, a small backpack is usually all you need.
